Released in 1997 by the 32 Jazz label, [Dog Years in the Fourth Ring] is a 3-CD compilation box set by jazz multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk. It captures the brilliant, eccentric, and high-energy performances of the jazz virtuoso known for playing multiple horns at once. The set combines two discs of rare, previously unissued live European recordings from 1963 to 1975 with his hard-to-find 1971 solo album.
A Mind-Body Deal is a rare fully illustrated art book and retrospective catalog that explores the life and legacy of Milford Graves as a multi-disciplinary polymath, rather than just a jazz musician. Co-published by Inventory Press and Ars Nova Workshop, the book serves as the definitive companion to his landmark exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Philadelphia.
Hard to find and out of print DVD. Directed by Bob Balaban, Parents (released in 1989) is a horror comedy set in the 1950’s suburbs. It stars Randy Quaid as Nick Laemle and Mary Beth Hurt as his wife Lily, a picture-perfect couple whose 10-year-old son, Michael (Bryan Madorsky), slowly grows terrified that his parents are secret serial killers.
This 1987 unofficial vinyl release of Jimmy Page's Lucifer Rising soundtrack is a rare bootleg pulled directly from Kenneth Anger’s 1970’s film. The initial pressing featured a limited run of 1,000 copies on blue vinyl, followed by black vinyl editions, packaged with xeroxed press inserts and notes before Page officially re-recorded and released the tracks in 2012. Numbered on back.
