Known primarily in the United States for his two hits with Crowded House, Neil Finn is highly respected and has been quite successful in his various incarnations overseas especially in Australia and his home country of New Zealand. Joining his brother Tim's arty pop band, Split Enz, he wrote several gems elevating that band to cult status before leaving to hone his craft and gift for amazing melodies in his own band, Crowded House. Their debut was a success - every tune here is strong and shows off Finn's extraordinary songwriting talent. Subsequent albums proved that the well wasn't going to run dry, and Neil even collaborated with his brother again on CH's third album. The band finally called it quits in 1996 with their Farewell to the World Tour. Neil has soldiered on with solo work and two Finn Brothers albums. Exhibiting an experimental side (distorted vocals, feedback, and trip-hop beats) without eschewing melody, Try Whistling This and One Nil are worthy inclusions to the Neil Finn canon.
