Nice to see this album poking around the TIU bins. Nico's sound of sonic orphans heard here in this re-release of The Marble Index and Desertshore include additional outtakes and demos of the two droning albums inspired by her dune musings with Brian Jones and Jim Morrison. Like most of her post-VU records they can also be considered John Cale solo projects, unearthed by his signature viola tri-tone production. Completely out there. Hearing the alt side of "Janitor of Lunacy" brings shivers to mind, for this track would drone throughout Nico's hermetic, latter years, ringing it out in the backdrop of dim European clubs until her eventual death in 1988 after falling off a bicycle. What remains, as Nico put it, is beautifully alone. 7/23/06 - 7/30/06 7/30/06 - 8/6/06 8/6/06 - 8/13/06 8/27/06 - 9/3/06 9/17/06 - 9/24/06 9/24/06 - 10/1/06 10/8/06 - 10/15/06 10/15/06 - 10/22/06 10/29/06 - 11/5/06 11/5/06 - 11/12/06 11/12/06 - 11/19/06 11/19/06 - 11/26/06 11/26/06 - 12/3/06 12/3/06 - 12/10/06 12/24/06 - 12/31/06 12/31/06 - 1/7/07 1/21/07 - 1/28/07 1/28/07 - 2/4/07 2/11/07 - 2/18/07 2/18/07 - 2/25/07 2/25/07 - 3/4/07 3/4/07 - 3/11/07 3/11/07 - 3/18/07 3/18/07 - 3/25/07 3/25/07 - 4/1/07 4/1/07 - 4/8/07 4/8/07 - 4/15/07 4/15/07 - 4/22/07 4/22/07 - 4/29/07 4/29/07 - 5/6/07 5/6/07 - 5/13/07 5/13/07 - 5/20/07 6/3/07 - 6/10/07 6/10/07 - 6/17/07 6/17/07 - 6/24/07 6/24/07 - 7/1/07 7/1/07 - 7/8/07
